Me! Me! Me! A Cassendre Xavier Museletter

The “Gratitude & Sucky-ness” ediccione, if you will. (As it were.)

Dear Friends,

So I was sitting here doing a last minute volunteer bookstore shift (I already have paid work at two bookstores – one job, two bookstores) and needed to run in and get something I left here at this one – I have keys to all three – and this is the one I can run in and out of and keep things in overnight or over the weekend
And I was thinking about a problem I have, and how I am writing about it and teaching about it and getting better with it and helping people with theirs (eating better)…
How it came up was I was looking at the menu of a Chinese restaurant and how I order brown rice and how that’s better but I still have a tension headache because I’ve eaten 3 takeout Chinese restaurant meals in the last two days and even though it’s mostly steamed tofi and broccoli (plus the usual meats and the porks that I also like), my hypertension is still like Ow!! So, apparently it’s best to go without the brown sauce. It’s not a heavy MSG place, but you just never know…
Anyway, I was thinking about how lucky I am to be able turn just about every aspect and area of my life into art. Art that is healing, entertaining, and sometimes even financially profitable!
I was feeling super happy and lucky and wanted to write a letter of gratitude to the universe. Then I wanted to find pictures to go along with it so I searched on line and found some.
I found the pictures, but as I was going through them I was feeling very happy to see them, but then I was feeling bummed thinking about my problems. Then I realized, well, maybe that’s why I’m so happy about stuff in my life – because I’ve got some major sucky-ness in it, too, and I at least ought to have something to balance it out!
Oh well. Anyway, I’m glad to be glad, and I’ll take the sucky stuff any day just to have all the sweetness I’ve been lucky enough to have.

Please to enjoy:

This was taken at the Black Women’s Arts Festival (I always forget which year) by Sarah Stefana Smith. I love all the contrastic colors here. I was also pretty high raw so I love the way my skin looks against the colors. The Living Plants hold a lot a of light and this Light shows through to our skin! Please enjoy my Wisdom Magazine article “Raw Foods for the Rest of Us: How to Eat Healthier Without Being Perfect” which also includes information about my upcoming raw food classes at Mt. Airy Learning Tree and Arnold’s Way Raw Vegetarian Cafe & Education Center:

Random NYC passerby took this picture of me and my brother Giscard “Giz” Xavier, (record producer, musician, recording engineer, photographer, graphic designer) outside of the ASCAP offices, where we had a meeting with his attorney, who is also the same attorney to Ani DiFranco, Maroon 5, and Howard Stern. I wanted to bring him a present, so we went to K-Mart and I bought a nice big plant for his office. He really liked it! My brother has engineered several of my albums, and is best known for co-writing City High’s hit song “Caramel” featuring Eve. I’m so proud of my brother! (Wiki’s full facts on “Caramel”:
